Many would argue that Saperavi is the principal Georgian grape variety, best known in the world. The distinctive acidity and bouncing palate of Saperavi make it a benchmark for red wine. The prevailing tannins and fullness along with its firmness are the key virtues of Saperavi. Some of them can age for a very long time. This traditional red dry Kvevri wine comes from Gavazi village of Kvareli zone. It is cherry in color and has a nose of red fruits and some sweet spices, along with black fruits and berries. It is a structured wine with soft tannins and a long finish.
Food pairing:Saperavi is primarily a meat wine, including game, but roasted vegetables or mashed beans are also excellent pairings for Saperavi.
